The End Times - Biblical & Contemporary

PROPHETIC, Biblical, Contemporary,

TOPICAL: ISLAM

The ‘Arab Spring’ was welcomed by some in the West as a development to bring about Western-style democracies in the Middle East. Some analysts now see an ‘Islamic Winter’ emerging. The theology of Tunisia’s elected Ennahda Party is based on the Muslim Brotherhood, which seeks to impose Islamic law throughout the world. The Ennahda leader has already announced that they would be imposing ‘moderate’ Islamic law on a nation which was one of the most progressive in the Arab world. The post-Gaddafi Libyan leaders are now imposing Sharia law. In Egypt, it looks as though the Muslim Brotherhood has arisen, (though it has been arising in the background within Islam for many years.) This is the most extreme branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Islamic groups in Turkey & Lebanon have been consolidating their position in similar vein. All this could lead to a radical theology led by fanatics in power that increases the likelihood of all-out war with Israel, including weapons of mass destruction. Iran is poised for nuclear capability. Syria and Iraq are experiencing the arising of the 'Islamic State' within, and IS warriors or trainees are emerging all over the world.  Pray Western leaders see through the Arab Spring and Winter to the true consequences for Israel and the West. Pray for Israel to be prepared, and for Arab peoples to come to the Lord. We desire these peoples to be blessed and set free to come to know Jesus as Saviour and Lord.

A quote from Sir Winston Churchill as a young journalist and soldier 1899; (Source: The River War, first edition,

 Vol II, pages 248-250 London).

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property, exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome ..."

Militant Islam is on the rise in the world today. They are determined to wipe out the nation of Israel as the Nazis tried to do in World War II. But global jihadists today have a saying, "First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people." To them, Israel is the little Satan; the West is the big Satan. Their goal is nothing short of world domination governed by Sharia law.

The world needs to see the halting of the Islamic terror group, ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria- now called simply IS. The back of the evil spirit of radicalism and terror that drives this group needs be broken, including very evil thought and imagination that arises as a god in reprobate minds.

Many have been blinded in their minds, an released to cause rampage, slaughter, butchering, beheading, and maiming, especially in Iraq. They claim they work for Allah, calling him “Lord of the Heavens.” Their methods and actions though, seem to me to be of satanic origin.

The American journalist recently beheaded, and the threats against the West by IS only underline the agenda of militant Islam. Of equal concern is the use of British-recruited and Western militants to mobilise recruits, terrify opponents, and project the image of a global force. Breakthroughs into deceived and demented minds are needed, and for the nations to recognise the true extent of the threat especially to America and the West. The Church worldwide needs to recognise that this is a war in the heavenlies and to pray accordingly. Some recent comments about the Islamic State now arising:

Islamic State (IS):

Currently, thousands and thousands of Christians are being killed, beheaded, driven out of their homes and churches or sold as sex slaves in Iraq, Syria, Nigeria, and other terrorist laden-ed states. “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor who gave his life to save Jews from the evil of Hitler.)

Islamic State in Levant (ISIL):

‘The Levant’ includes Egypt, Cyprus, Israel and Lebanon amongst other nations. President Obama has authorised air strikes in Syria for the first time, alongside expanded air strikes in Iraq as a part of a steady and relentless effort to root out Islamic State extremists and their spreading reign of terror. An alliance of Western nations and Arab nations – even within Syria - is developing to restrain this threat. Currently. some Syrian villages are being seized by IS. Also Turkey is now the subject of ISIS invasion over the borders from Syria. The Kurdish forces are resisting the ISIS advance.      Isaiah 28v6; 29v20

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS):

IRAQ: One of the oldest centres of Christianity in the world, Iraq, is now being purged of Christian and other minority religious communities. Ten years ago the estimated Christian population of Iraq was 1.5 million. This has been reduced to 200,000 over the last decade through systematic and ruthless persecution of Christians. NO Christians are now left in Mosul, one of the major centres and those who have had to flee are threatened with extinction. A systematic and rapid advance, by a well organised and financed fanatical faction of Islamist militants - ISIS, now renamed IS (Islamic State) - has swept through Northern Iraq (where the majority of religious minority groups live). IS fighters are using the most evil, barbaric forms of violence to drive out and kill anyone who will not align with their cause by converting to their version of Islam. Their violent acts include the rape of women and children, mass executions, burying victims alive, and there are also reports of beheading (even babies in front of parents).

A video reportedly produced by IS shows Iraqi prisoners, including what appear to be children, piled onto trucks before being driven off for execution.

A warning was recently broadcast through the loudspeakers of the mosques in Mosul giving Christians three choices: (i) conversion to Islam, (ii) the dhimma contract - payment of a high tax for the practicing of another religion, (iii) death by the sword. In fact the second option was rapidly withdrawn.

IS and Israel:

The Hizballah Iran-backed terrorist army is up to 100,000 strong.  It is equipped with Iranian-made rockets and 5000 missiles capable of reaching anywhere in Israel. Rocket launchers are mounted in homes, schools and mosques. Tunnels are being built into Galilee.  ISIS is a well armed, well funded, murderous, genocidal outgrowth of Al Qaeda. It is reported to be moving into Southern Lebanon. Its tactics include torture, beheadings, crucifixions and mass executions.

Islamic movement in Galilee: There is a growing Muslim Brotherhood influence there on Arab Muslims who are full citizens of Israel. Support for ISIS is growing. Training camps have been established for children, to indoctrinate them for Jihad or martyrdom. BUT Isaiah 9v1-3 promises a great light in the darkness of Galilee.

IS and Cyprus: Psalm 91v3:  He will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler..’

It is to be noted that there is growing islamatisation of North Cyprus from Turkey. Also, two mosques are currently being ‘renovated’ there using EU funding under cultural heritage tags.  In the South, the Larnaca mosque has been renovated and designated also as a prayer centre. The Cypriot government is concerned at the inroads of the ISIL in Lebanon...a near neighbour of Cyprus, and also a threat to Turkey. Cyprus supports the Lebanese army with ammunition, and also training. Cyprus’ role in acting with Western powers is also an issue. The Foreign Minister stated that, ‘Cyprus is in the front line.’ He said, ‘Governments do not act according to probabilities, they act according to possibilities.’ The authorities need accurate information and to make wise decisions over the situation.

ISIS is beginning to penetrate Turkey. The headline of the article from Kibris Postasi was, ‘ ISIS is mobilising in Cyprus.” These are the words of Middle East expert Hüsnü Mahalli, who said that the news regarding ISIS' plans to mobilise in Cyprus which appeared in Russian media are not far from the reality. Emphasising that he knows ISIS' mentality Mahalli said “ISIS always had a strategic and emotional attachment to Cyprus”. Mahalli says that the history of this special “connection” to Cyprus goes back to the Syria Social-Nationalist Arab Party and their “Fertile Crescent “ map. In this map Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq and Mosul form the crescent and Cyprus is the star in the map. According to Mahalli ISIS is taking ownership of this heritage by including Cyprus in their plans. Mahalli also warned the politicians and said that they have to be extra attentive to foreign policy and international developments. Every political development in Cyprus has an international component. Watchfulness is needed in  national leaders.

According to Mahalli the recent news about the possibility of UK bases in Cyprus will be used for US airstrikes on ISIS, are also not far from reality.

Mahalli also added that generally radical islamists do not recognize national borders and so that it is natural for ISIS to have their eye on the lands where there is a Muslim population. ISIS wants to find an opportunity to extend its operations to Cyprus said Mahalli and noted that Islamic Development Bank, El-Baraka and Kuwait Turk Banks are directly and indirectly supporting ISIS' activities.

“ISIS is very quickly and seriously mobilising in the region. ISIS have many hidden centres in Turkey. This is a common knowledge. One should not be surprised by that fact that ISIS has an eye on Cyprus. The ISIS who are organized in Turkey are closely following Turkey's policy on Cyprus. They want to make investments and benefit from Cyprus financially.” At the end of our interview Mahalli also reminded that Cyprus has a spiritual significance for the Muslim world as the first destination of the Islamic voyages and that this significant place in Muslim collective memory gives an extra reason to ISIS to have an eye on Cyprus. For those who live in nations effected by IS, Psalm 91 and psalm 94 are very helpful to overcome a natural fear of IS. Psalm 91v5: Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, Nor for the arrow that flieth by day….

Psalm 2 reminds us that God always has the last word over rulers and powers. My God terrorise the terrorists! We pray that many bound by Islam and IS, whether by mindset or by the enemy’s lies and deception, will hear the liberating Gospel of Christ, and also experience supernatural dreams and visions from God revealing Jesus for who He is….King of Kings & Lord of lords, Saviour of the world, Jewish Messiah, Son of God. Amen!

   3. Dr Terry Jones is pastor of  Dove World Outreach centre, Gainesville, Florida.

This radical pastor caught the attention of the world through his plans to burn Korans on 9th September 2010, in remembrance of  the (9/11) event in New York 2001. Though he did not carry this through, the Media focus on what he was doing was incredible. Why was this? I believe it was one of God's 'signs'...see below.

However, his burning of a Koran has provoked much anti-Christian reaction amongst Muslims. The threat of burning the Koran I believe achieved something worthwhile, exposing radical Islam for what it is. The actual burning has simply inflamed and aggravated the situation, though it does expose the underlying nature of Islam....very different to Christianity.  Now consider the following:

God sometimes allows 'signs' to pinpoint an issue. Signs can be natural disasters or acts of men. The sign gains worldwide attention, but the spiritual interpretation needs to be sought and shared. God can speak to man through these things if we have ears to hear.

Though there was widespread condemnation of this particular threat,  Terry Jones'  website is worth looking at, and the video of the book, too, found from the website by going to 'The Book'  page.

It becomes apparent that behind this strategy of attention getting, he is really concerned as a committed Christian evangelical believer about the true nature of Islam, and wants the world to know the dangers of fundamental Islam, and the encroaching danger in the USA.  Website:
