  1. Faith Camp 2010. ‘Your Kingdom Come’

Worthy is the

Lamb who was slain

Holy, holy is He

Sing a new song

To Him who sits on

Heaven’s mercy seat

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty

Who was, and is, and is to come

With all creation I sing: Praise to the King of Kings!

You are my everything, and I will adore You....

This is the chorus of just one of the many worship and praise songs used at Faith Camp 2010. (This particular one has wonderful music and lyrics. Go to my website: (the page ’An End Time Worship Song’) for the video, lyrics & comments. It is amazing, a truly End Time song of worship worthy of the book of Revelation. Alternatively, look up the Youtube video:

The focus of Faith Camp this year has been on the ‘Emerging Generation’ being raised up to bring influence into society, and beyond that the theme of God’s rule and reign being brought into society. As the darkness in the nations grows darker, the light of Christian witness and God’s rule and reign grows brighter so that many will be saved from that spiritual and moral darkness. Here is encouragement through the words of the Apostle Paul: Phil 3v12-14:

……I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus.

Phil 4v1: Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends!  And in Hebrews: Hebrews 12v1-3: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Some of the messages - in summary - which particularly impacted me were:

a) Bringing God pleasure. We are sons of God and inheritors of the Kingdom. But, how can we bring greater pleasure to our Father in heaven who has given us so much in Christ? Simple, we can choose to walk with God as a way of life, and in so doing, keep close to Him and remain intimate, sharing in the deeper things of God as He reveals them to us. The result will be a more Christ-like way of life. This brings pleasure to God, that we become more and more like Christ.

b) Mirrors. Mirrors face us at every moment, only we are especially aware of them in times of destiny, choice and temptation. One mirror - from God - shows us who we truly are in Christ. We can make the Christ-led choice and in so doing, become more Christ-like, and further fulfil our destiny.

The other mirror – from the world, the flesh and the Devil, is who the flesh wants us to be. You know in your own experience when the flesh rises up insistently demanding its own way. We can make the flesh-led choice and in so doing, become more worldly, and further depart from fulfilling our destiny.

The truth is, we have a choice. May God grace you and give you the desire to co-operate with Him in making right choices as you enter into and work through each day of your life. Maybe you need to pray for this?

c) Creating through the word. As sons of God, we are empowered to create with our words…just as God spoke the world into being, so we can speak things into being, calling them forth from heaven to earth. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 3

The word of faith will create something new in a situation or circumstances. The word of faith will create healing, deliverance, provision, etc. But, the word will be tested. The person declaring the word will be tested in perseverance, believing the word against and over the circumstances and situations. The word of faith comes to us from God as we tune in to Him about a situation and receive His view of it, His word into it. We then declare what He says over the situation….even singing over the barren circumstances and situation (Isaiah 54v1-5). We then hold on, continuing to speak faith and not negativity about the situation. In due course, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. That is victorious Christian living!d) Israel. Good teaching on the whole issue of Israel, the Middle East, reconciliation between Jews and Arabs, etc. Something of God’s view of and heart for Israel and the Jewish people as revealed in the Bible. Because our stream of churches are represented at Faith Camp, such messages strengthen our resolve together to honour God’s word over Israel.

 2. Run your race to win

Following the first article, this seems appropriate.

Eric Liddel, renowned Olympics winner in the twenties, became a missionary to China, and eventually died for his faith. However, he was an athlete, and as he put it, ‘God also made me fast’. The following video montage is from the film based on Eric’s life, made in 1981, ‘Chariots of fire’. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards and actually won four, including Best Picture. (Also found on the ‘Run your race to win’ page of our website)

The portrayal of a Christian literally running the race to win, for God’s pleasure, is captivating and challenging. It brings new focus and motivation to the bible verses relating to this:

1 Cor 9:24-27 (ANIV) 24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last for ever. 26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Heb 12:1-3 (ANIV) 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

God has a crown in store for all those Christians who seek the eternal rewards of a life devoted to Him. Yes, we enter into salvation, into the Christian Faith by the grace of God, freely given, unmerited, unearned. Yet, having entered into Christ, and become part of the ‘Body of Christ’, the believers worldwide who comprise His body, his representation on earth, we can choose the degree of devotion we wish to give to Him.

Are you like an athlete who disciplines his own body in order to bring out the best in the race? Or like a soldier, avoiding civilian matters, or a Christian avoiding world affairs which distract? 2 Tim 2:1-5 (ANIV) 1 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. 3 Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No-one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants to please his commanding officer. 5 Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules.  How surrendered to Him, to His will for your life, are you? God will reward you in heaven according to your CHOICES made in this life. Salvation may be unearned, and freely given, but the responsibilities given you in heaven will be measured according to your commitment to Christ whilst here on earth. (See the Parable of the Ten Minas: Luke 19v11-26 esp. v17).

17 " 'Well done, my good servant!' his master replied. 'Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.'

Are you persevering in the Faith? Are you pressing on to win the prize God wishes to bestow upon you? James 1:12 (ANIV) 12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Phil 3:12-14 (ANIV) 12......I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, 14 I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus.

Remember, they that honour God, He will honour. Consider your ways today and come before the Lord. Allow Him to speak to you and to lead you into repentance and restoration, if that is your need. 1 Samuel 2v30......Those who honour me I will honour, but those who despise me will be disdained.

Finally, a second clip from the film, Chariots of Fire.

3. End Times Emerging

(With acknowledgement to Dr Clifford Hill - Ed. )

The advance of ungodliness and lawlessness - defying the instruction of Gods law - is disturbing. Trouble deepens around the world. China and the USA stand opposed, Iran persists in its pursuit of the nuclear bomb, with the USA deploying nuclear carriers to the Gulf in response. The Islamic world surrounds embattled Israel in increasing hostility. Social tensions in Europe increase with debt mountains having to be faced. Pakistan unites the whole Islamic world in anti- Western nations attitudes. A world of peace and prosperity looks unlikely.

What is more, biblically, things are likely to get worse, leading to the man of lawlessness being revealed. Meanwhile, the Body of Christ arises in greater fullness as a testimony to Christ worldwide, and in Britain, the new government seems to have a more honourable agenda towards marriage, family and a society which encourages and values the voluntary sector, including the Church and its activity in the nation. The darkness darkens, and the light brightens.

God speaks through events such as the Icelandic dust cloud (Deut 28v24) - a call for repentance - with the possibility of a far worse second outbreak. The Gulf of Mexico oil spill has soured US - British relationships with increasing anti-British rhetoric from the Obama administration. The Cumbria massacre shook the West.

Biblically, such events are signs, capturing widespread attention and having a human or divine origin. Such signs need interpretation, just as Jesus interpreted the falling of the Tower of Siloam disaster in His own time, by saying that it was a warning that something was wrong in the city of Jerusalem, and unless there was repentance, they would all suffer. Les than a generation later, most of the inhabitants were slaughtered in a fruitless revolt against Rome. The sign and its interpretation were ignored.

Isaiah 26:9-11: When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness. 10 Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the Lord. 11 O Lord, your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it.

God allows mild signs of warning to bring people to salvation, but more severe disasters to lead them - even whole nations - to the recognition that something is wrong, and to repentance - a change of direction to the good. This allows God to transform the situation and restore blessing.

As we well know in these End Times, human greed, hatred and violence are coming to the fore amongst the nations. Therefore God is shaking the nations, in a world now divided into warring camps armed with fearful weapons of mass destruction (Haggai 2v6-7, Heb 12v26f).

6Unless there is recognition of the signs, and repentance, we are heading towards catastrophic desolation. The international war and events of Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39, and Israels deliverance Zechariah chapters 12 - 14 may be closer than we think. Whatever the timescale may be, events involving, and around Israel are key pointers.

The unrestrained spirits of violence and hatred around the world will bring us to destruction unless there is a recognition of the warning signs through interpretation of their meaning, to Governments, and then a heeding. In the Western civilisation, secularisation has destroyed the God consciousness of the people, and stripped them of the ability to understand the signs of the times. God is calling his people to sound the alarm, to act as prophetic people interpreting His word to those around us - family, neighbourhood and workplace, and to those in higher authority in our nations.

We still have opportunities. When the church prays as one, rising up to the challenge, those around us and those in authority will have their perception enhanced, and will seek for a way forward. Will the church be there to share with them the Word of the Lord?

4. A Five Year Window

The ‘State of the Nation’ consultative group, of which I am a part (when I can get to it), met in July to seek God. Here is a brief summary of the key points:

Isaiah 10v5-7 reminds us that God used (and still uses) other nations and peoples as His rod of anger to discipline Israel - a nation which had known the truth and honoured God, yet backslidden - as has Britain. Those peoples were instruments in His hand even though they themselves wanted to inflict greater harm on Gods people and take control of the nation of Israel. The same could be said for Islams aspirations for Britain to become Islamic. It could happen in less than a generation of time at this rate! Jeremiah 18v7-10 reminds us that God will relent in allowing disaster on a nation - His judgment against its sin and rebellion - if it repents of (turns away from) its evil ways, and returns to the ways of living revealed by and required of God in His word.

The recent change of government gives the Christian community a five year period of opportunity for change and restoration in society. Why is this? Well, the election brought to the coalition Government benches 45 committed Christians - to hold back the humanistic and religious assaults on our nation. The glory of this present ‘house’ at Westminster will be greater than that of the former house (cf. Haggai 2v9)

There is a need of the voice of the Lord to speak through His appointed agents to those at the highest level of authority in our nation. This would be the Government, and the members of the Cabinet in particular, declaring that the crisis in the land cannot be solved by ourselves alone, but only by recognising we have excluded God and bowed to the idols of greed and selfishness. The nation’s leadership needs to have the courage to seek God and honour Him in the rule of the nation. May God raise up those who can rightly challenge and inform our PM and Government ministers on these issues, as they earn the right to speak by their work, prayer and loving commitment to those individuals in the long term. Pray for this!

As we repent of our personal idols and those in our institutions, and as the Body of Christ unites in pleading to God for our nation and in serving and challenging the nation, the broken gates of our nation can be restored. The church is awakening from its stupor. Let it rise up as one, speak out as one, pray as one. Let love be its motivation in reaching out together to this nation which has been so used of God in the past. With God, nothing is impossible!

Having said that, we do not wish to be presumptuous before God, assuming He has spoken to us without checking carefully with others in authority over us, and with those we trust from experience. But when we are convinced that His Spirit is leading us, then let us act in faith, not fear!

 5. Advance

The newly formed Israelite nation, having come out of Egypt, had been fashioned by God through their wilderness experience. They now had the Ten Commandments and laws for a nation under God. After crossing the Jordan they were ready to advance into the land to take possession of it.

You, your church, the national church, the church worldwide, Israel itself…….this advance could apply to each of these present scenarios to some extent. Any advance must be an advance of faith - Hebrews chapter 11 teaches us that necessity. It is a chapter worth studying.

We already have that deposit of faith in us through the new birth into Christ. We just have to exercise the faith we have. Often that is through declaring what we believe, declaring the scriptures, the promises, the rhema word God has revealed to us by His Spirit. 2 Corinthians 4v13: It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak…..

8What is that which God has set before YOU in the race you are running? What promises come to mind, what hopes have you, what are you believing for? These need to be opened up to the purposes of God as you declare your faith in Him, and speak into being what you cannot yet see. Let’s consider Hebrews chapter 11: Hebrews 11v1: Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

As we give God our best, seeking to please Him by exercising our faith, and as we are earnest in our prayers and reverent towards God in our lives, we can draw on all we have in Christ, our inheritance, now, in this life.Romans 10:17 Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

So, we seek God over a situation….for example, the General Election, or the future for Britain. We expect God to communicate with us by His Spirit, leading us to His rhema word for the situation, or to a relevant scripture. (For example, when you pray for Britain, or when you prayed over the Election, were you praying from faith or human hope?)

Our nation does not have the faith to believe God for great things, so it is our responsibility as the Church in Britain to have the faith for true Christian hope for the future. We need to speak into being what we are hearing from God about Britain. We need to prepare for the future that God has planned for Britain, and persevere in this until we see what we are already believing for. We hear God for what He would have of us personally in the situation, and obey His leading, and go as he directs.

Here I quote my pastor, Colin Urquhart: ‘You can only take the land you can see when your eyes are fixed on the land you can’t see’ and, ’The more heavenly minded you are, the more earthly good you are.’ In other words, we need to be focused on our heavenly land and inheritance, the promises of God, etc., and activate our faith towards seeing God’s word for our nation become a reality….‘on earth as it is in heaven.’

God is faithful to His promises, to what He has said. You will get to the objective, though sometimes you may have to wait. Sometimes your personal situation will require faith to call the objective into being. The mind might say, ‘that’s impossible’, but your faith will believe God, your spirit ruling over your mind. Your faith in what God communicates to you will begin to birth something from God. Then of course, it will be tested. There may be an ‘Isaac’ situation, where you have to offer it up sacrificially to God, letting go, yet holding on to your dream, the word given, despite everything.

Hebrews 11v17:-19: By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18 even though God had said to him, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." 19 Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death

Faith will bring blessing to others, as you see with your spirit what others cannot see, and embrace the cost of holding on to faith - e.g. the rejection by others, the denial of self, choosing what Jesus wants instead. This faith is not afraid of the enemy, and his work through others held by him.

Another quote: ‘Fear paralyses believers into inactivity.’ Your activity of faith in the blood of Christ brings such protection from the enemy and his accusations. He has no answer to the Blood. Also, your faith is overcoming and victorious, releasing the supernatural element as you hold on to and speak out what God has declared to you. You can put the armies of the enemy to flight! Quote:’Faith isn’t something you have, it’s something you do.’

Hebrews 11 even commends the faith of a prostitute, Rahab, because she co-operated with the purposes of God! As I write, I am aware of a project close to my own heart regarding the Jewish people and Cyprus. May I (and you) co-operate with the purposes of God in our own walk of faith with Him.

Also, Hebrews 11 speaks of raising to new life. We can see things raised to new life by faith in God. We are the ’household of faith’ as the bible puts it.

One last quote: ‘Whatever aspect or facet of faith is needed, God is prepared to work it in you.’ What is your current faith project? Have you one? No excuses….let’s get on with the job, and walk by faith in Him and His word.

6. Singing over situations.

God sees our lives from a very different viewpoint. We see ourselves or each other from the horizontal viewpoint, but God from the vertical. We see the situation, the circumstances, the things that seem to grip us and spoil us. God sees us perfect as well as being made perfect. He knows the end from the beginning. He sees the final product. He sees us as we shall be!

The Spirit says, ‘Sing what I say over people’s lives.’ He wants us to live in the Spirit, speaking and singing over people the word God has spoken over their lives, that it become reality for them on earth just as much as it is already a reality in heaven. He wants us to see it how He sees it.

Jesus declared in victory, at the end of His ordeal at the cross: ‘It is finished.’ That was significant. It is done. It is accomplished. Jesus has already accomplished for us all that is needed. 10

We simply need to learn to walk in faith, believing that it is done. We simply need to rest in His work, and hear His living Spirit-given word to us, and declare this over our lives and over one another. That is truly a word of faith. Singing in faith is powerful! We are practising this and applying to situations as they arise. Check out these scriptures:

Isaiah 54v1-3: 1 "Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labour; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband," says the Lord. 2 "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. 3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.

Zephaniah 3v14-17: 14 Sing, O Daughter of Zion; shout aloud, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O Daughter of Jerusalem! 15 The Lord has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm. 16 On that day they will say to Jerusalem, "Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands hang limp. 17 The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."  2 Chronicles 20:20-22: 20 As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful." 21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendour of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: "Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures for ever." 22 As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.

Joshua 6:15-20: 15 On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times. 16 The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the people, "Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! ....20 When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city. Acts 16:24-26: 24 Upon receiving such orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose.

Did you see the Spirit’s instruction in the first of the scriptures, Isaiah 54v1 ? ‘Sing, O barren woman....’ Why not apply this to your situation?

The Spirit wants us to sing out in faith over the situations we or others are in, which seem irresolvable, impossible, beyond us. Faith really pleases God. When you declare that you can see ‘streams in the desert’ (Isaiah 35v6), with the eye of faith, even though with the eye of your own mind you can only see the obstacles, and the desert, you are on your way to the victory becoming reality. The key is being in touch with God.

Our church is currently bringing a ‘sacrifice of praise’ to God by practicing singing over situations for a period of 40 days. We will see many breakthroughs, and the exercise of our faith will strengthen and enlarge our spiritual muscles, and push back any spiritual laziness. Perhaps you would like to join with us over such a period for your own journey of breakthrough?

7. Family

My daughter graduated at Faith Camp as a first year student - amongst others - receiving her diploma on stage in front of thousands of people. My wife and I were right up the front watching and recording the moment! Now she can look forward to some holiday and will also continue to earn for her next college year by working at her restaurant three evenings a week, helping with her college fees.

My wife still works a couple of days a week in a local shop, where she is concerned to reach out to the many people passing through. She is much appreciated by the management and customers alike, and received a commendation and a prize from the management recently.

Alongside my tent-making job, and opportunities for getting alongside precious people, I continue my part time self employment in Christian ministry and writing, and am trying to find more time to develop the website!

My wife and I went to Portsmouth for a few days recently for a mini-break, towing our large dinghy sailer. We stayed in a place which overlooked the harbour and Spinnaker Tower. Whilst there, we launched the boat and motored out into the Solent towards Cowes.

It was quite rough, so we decided to head for the huge Portsmouth harbour and tour this instead, seeing ten warships close at hand from the water, amongst other things. We later toured the Spinnaker Tower..well worth a visit! The break was an enrichment opportunity for our marriage.quality time spent together.

We also travel regularly to Cyprus (three times this year) and minister there. Next visit, in October, we will take the song I wrote about in section 1 - on the website - and teach it to the Cypriots we are linked with out there.

Now, a first..I was able to get a FREE prescription for the first time, today, since I am now 60. Glory to God! We enjoy very good health as a rule, and my wife is working through the menopause with flying colours.

Finally, for those unable to be with us for our joint 60th & 50th birthdays celebration in June, a short report. After a welcome and period of re-union with about 80 guests, together with drinks and nibbles, we had a multi-media presentation, What has gone before. This included live speakers, songs, videos and pictures displayed on screens around the venue.the re-furbished Hub area of the NRC. It was good to be reminded of what God had done in and through our lives, to His glory. The whole event was videoed. (That meant we were able to watch it at our leisure after the event, since so much was going on at the time -renewing acquaintances, running programme, etc.)

Then after a professional buffet, we had a time of worship led by our churchs worship leaders. This led into the session, What is yet to come, where I was able to teach about Gods heart and plan for Israel, and how Cyprus has a part to play in this. Finally, the worship leaders, (who also supplement their income by singing engagements), performed a superb Beatles Medley of songs for half an hour! It was a memorable event. To God be the glory!  D

2. Parliament visit

My wife  and I took the opportunity recently of a tour of Parliament, arranged through our MP. The tour included visiting the House of Commons and the House of Lords. We had prayed that God would reveal something to us on the tour which was of significance. What follows reveals His gracious answer. First, read the description of the Monarch’s Robing Room, Royal Gallery and the Prince’s Chamber…which is effectively the entrance to the House of Lords.

From: 'The new palace of Westminster', Old and New London: Volume 3 (1878),

The Robing-room is a lofty and spacious apartment, with a canopied throne at the further end, opposite to which is Mr. Dyce's fresco from the "Legend of King Arthur." There are two doors to this room, one close upon the porch, the other nearer the throne; and Her Majesty, entering at the former, comes forth at the latter into a noble hall, 110 feet long, 45 wide, and 45 high. This is called the Royal Gallery, and is decorated with frescoes illustrative of the "Death of Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar," and the "Meeting of Wellington and Blucher at Waterloo," by Mr. D. Maclise, R.A. The windows are filled with stained glass, and the ceiling is richly adorned with gilding and heraldry. Passing from the Royal Gallery we enter the Prince's Chamber. This apartment is decorated with equal splendour to that just described; it contains a noble marble group, by Gibson, of the Queen, (Victoria – Ed.) supported by Justice and Mercy.  The House of Lords, which we now enter, is nearly 100 feet long by 45 feet wide, and the same in height. The chamber presents a coup d'œil of the utmost magnificence, no expense having been spared to make it one of the richest in the world….

THE ANGELS OF JUSTICE AND MERCY.   We observed these statues below and at either side of the statue of Queen Victoria at the entrance to the House of Lords whilst at Parliament, and found out more about them, particularly the statue of the Angel of Justice. First it was good to see how the then reigning monarch valued Justice tempered with Mercy. We commented on this, and considered our own days, when so much injustice seems to prevail. In response to a query, it should be noted that the Angel of Justice holds the scales of justice in its left hand. However, on the statue, we noticed that the scales were broken...some mishap to the statue, but how significant this is in terms of the injustice of our present society! It was as though God's Spirit was revealing something of His heart over society, interpreting this to us through the statue. Brought to mind was a phrase from Isaiah: ‘Truth has stumbled in the streets’. The context is shown below, with the text in bold.

Isaiah 59:11-15  11 We all growl like bears; we moan mournfully like doves. We look for justice, but find none; for deliverance, but it is far away.12 For our offences are many in your sight, and our sins testify against us. Our offences are ever with us, and we acknowledge our iniquities: 13 rebellion and treachery against the Lord, turning our backs on our God, fomenting oppression and revolt, uttering lies our hearts have conceived. 14 So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter. 15 Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice.

The Tour Guide explained to us that the Angel of Justice was not blindfolded…obvious to the eye. She compared this with the angel of justice found in the European Parliament, which statue was blindfolded for some reason. I wish I had asked her to expand on this, for on the internet we have not been able to find out more, so far. Whether she meant one at Brussels, or at the EU parliament UK office in London we do not know. Hopefully, we will find out in due course. She reminded us that the reason the statue was not blindfolded in the English Parliament was because, ‘Truth must be seen to be done’. I have included some quotes regarding justice, and mercy:

"It is in justice that the ordering of society is centred."       -- Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC),

"I have always found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict justice."

                                                                                                          --Abraham Lincoln

"Rats and roaches live by competition under the laws of supply and demand. It is the privilege of human beings to live under the laws of justice and mercy."

                                                                                                          -- Wendell Berry

"Ultimately, this is what you go before God for: You've had bad luck and good luck and all you really want in the end is mercy."                                                          -- Robert Frost

Jackie and I felt a real concern that rather than truth be seen to be done, the opposite has often been the case, in the more recent history of our nation. The Media has often highlighted various unjust decisions from courts, judges, the state or government, etc. Black has seemed to be white, and white black in so many situations. The law-breaker seems more protected than the one against whom the offence was perpetrated! Also, Christian liberties are being eroded away.

‘House of Cheats’. This was the description the Daily Mail gave of the House of Lords in relation to the expenses scandal. A last minute change in the rules left prosecutors unable to see justice done over peers who had falsely claimed expenses – particularly over second homes.  One peer claimed to live at an empty Kensington flat as her ‘main’ home, then claimed £100,000 in allowances for overnight stays at her real primary address, in London. Police, having gained much evidence against this particular peer were astonished that she escaped prosecution by the change of rules during the inquiry, which sanctioned  the use of a ‘main’ residence just once a month.

Yet, having said that, we still give thanks and rejoice that so much of our history and heritage in Britain  has been steeped in biblical justice and mercy, the residue still at work to bless many in our nation. But why, on this parliamentary visit, was the Lord seeming to highlight this issue of justice?

There is a section entitled, ‘Laws of Justice and Mercy’, amongst many passages to be found in the Bible.  This extract is from Exodus 23v1-9.

1 "Do not spread false reports. Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness. 2 "Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, 3 and do not show favouritism to a poor man in his lawsuit. 4 "If you come across your enemy's ox or donkey wandering off, be sure to take it back to him. 5 If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help him with it. 6 "Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits. 7 Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty. 8 "Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the righteous. 9 "Do not oppress an alien; you yourselves know how it feels to be aliens, because you were aliens in Egypt.

It is clear that our God is very concerned about justice and mercy. Jesus’ sermon on the mount gives a perfect revelation of God’s heart on these matters when it comes to personal conduct regarding matters of justice and mercy.

Having said all this, we now come to the prophetic interpretation of the parliamentary visit. I am pleased to say that the Lord visited Jackie whilst she was set aside for a day to seek Him….God has truly restored my wife! He gave her this passage found in the book of Daniel, referring her to the incident of the statue, the angel of justice.

Daniel 5v25-31  25 "This is the inscription that was written: mene, mene, tekel, parsin     26 "This is what these words mean:   Mene : God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end. 27 Tekel : You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. 28 Peres : Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians."

29 Then at Belshazzar's command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom. 30 That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain, 31 and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two.

Jackie’s meditation on Daniel 5v26-27  - the bold section – follows.

We stand before You in repentance for our nation. We have been found wanting. Forgive us that we have destroyed things sacred to You, such as family life. We deserve Your wrath as a nation. We have done as we please and forgotten Your ways. You have handed us over so that we are now reaping what we have sown.

We have believed our ways to be higher than Yours, and have made wrong choices, and followed other Gods the ‘Medes’ and ‘Persians’ who dictate to us, and try to make us follow their ways and their gods.

O Lord, may the leaders of this nation turn again to follow Your ways, and be led back to the ancient paths.

The Lord: My people are lukewarm when it comes to prayer. They do it because they know they should. There is no heart motivation. (Look at the 10am prayer meeting – where is the church?) They haven’t died to themselves. Don’t they see the trouble the nation is in?

They let the world mold their lives, rather than spend time with ME. They don’t know My heart, because I can’t trust them to carry My heart. They have wrong motives, and want to live in the comfort of their own homes. I have a worldly church, that shut their front doors, and only come out when it’s convenient. They work all the hours earning money that does not satisfy. The enemy keeps them busy. If they trusted Me, they would see My provision.

Am I not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? Do I not keep My promises? Have I not honoured those who honour Me?

I have taught you many things, and revealed Myself to you in My word. You have seen how I move and act. Am I not a God of love and mercy? A God who is jealous, and sometimes angry, but also patient and full of mercy? How long will you play church, and take Me out of the box on Sunday mornings and put me back Monday? THERE IS A REMNANT – those who follow Me, and are obedient to My word, who seek Me with all their heart. They know Me and they are Mine. Made holy and set apart. Ready for action, with hearts that have been circumcised.

(JH prayed through Psalm 51)  Have mercy on me according to Your unfailing love. According to Your great compassion, blot out my transgressions.

Give me time, honour me, and I will honour you, for My ways are perfect, just and true. You must deny Yourselves many things. Take up your cross, and follow Me. Those who walk with Me will be radiant, and shine like stars in the universe. I made known My ways to Moses, and My deeds to the people of Israel. I am compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in love. I will not treat you as your sins deserve. My love is great for those who fear Me.

JH….Our days are numbered. We are here one minute, then the wind blows, and we are no more.      (My thanks to Jackie for this powerful word. Now consider this:)

Luke 18 v 1-8   1Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.' 4 "For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' "6And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night. Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

The Parable of the Persistent Widow:   God wants us to persist against the pressure of the enemy to give up! To persist to see change for good in our land, and bad laws overcome, good laws enacted. He wants to see the nation return to Him, with the church setting the example to the leaders of the nation. He wants to see justice and mercy restored to their rightful places in the forefront of the nation's thinking and activity. We are to wield the weapons of our (spiritual) warfare in faith, which comes as God reveals His word to us on a situation. We are to pray and pursue the enemy until we drive him out of the land! It may take a generation or more, but we have this attitude to persevere, as did the poor widow....who could not afford an advocate for her cause. We have Jesus as our advocate!

Finally, My wife took a brief video whilst I was outside Parliament after the event. Although we had not had a chance to reflect on the revelation very much at that time, and we were unused to making videos, having only recently received our first digital camera, I was proud of her endeavours. As for my performance…well, it could be improved! If you would like to see the video, then look up the videos page on our website. The page on the parliamentary visit, is similar to this newsletter.

3. The Excitement and Challenge of Fasting

Diary of a 3 day fast.  Do you remember how a woman kindly allocated and prepared a room for Elisha’s use when he was in her town?

2 Kings 4:8-10     8 One day Elisha went to Shunem. And a well-to-do woman was there, who urged him to stay for a meal. So whenever he came by, he stopped there to eat. 9 She said to her husband, "I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. 10 Let's make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us."

Bare essentials. The passage suggests the bare essentials for a time of Retreat (advance): A bed, table, chair, and a lamp. There is also to be considered the factors of heating, washing & loo facilities, worship CDs and player, notebook and biro and bringing all the other items which may be of use to you personally on retreat.

There are various places to go for a retreat, either at home, locally or further afield. Maybe a friend’s place, or an unoccupied situation, or a retreat centre.

(Details of retreat centres are to be found on the internet by googling ‘Christian Retreat Centres’, etc.)

There are various types of retreat, e.g. simply spending a morning or day apart with the Lord, or say three days at a retreat centre.

There are various types of fast, the ‘partial’ fast being the most frequent. perhaps missing a main meal a day and using the time to retreat and pray, or maybe a fruit and vegetable only fast, a soup only fast, a fluids only fast, or a water only fast. I have rarely had a complete or ‘normal’ fast of refraining from water and food completely for a day or up to 3 days and nights. Only at certain key times in my life, for key situations. Whatever  you may decide to do as a fast – and I hope you do – you will need to ensure it is not too comfortable in terms of food intake. The sacrifice is what God values. Finally, if you have any medical condition, then you would need to check with your doctor about any substantial fast.

Below is a diary of a recent three day retreat I enjoyed at a friend’s house, in a small room with a bathroom & loo near to hand. This particular retreat was one of water only, as it had a specific purpose for breakthrough in a friend’s situation in mind. I spent most of the time in the room though I did go for a walk by the nearby river each day. Times are rounded to the nearest quarter hour.  It makes interesting reading, since people asked me how I manage to fill in the time! Of course, other people may use the time very differently. We are all unique!

(I prepared the day before by taking only fruit and veg, fluids and nothing from 9pm.)

Got up, short Quiet time and wash, then drove up to the location.

9am-10.30 Caught up with my friends, the hosts, and shared in prayer.

10.30-11.30 Unpacked and settled down in room. Talked to the Lord frequently.

11.30-12 noon. Listened to and joined in worship CDs.

12 noon-1.30pm Wrote notes about a coming project.

1.30-3.30 walked by river  and meditated on Jeremiah 17. Enjoyed walking and talking with the Lord.

3.30-4.15 Worship time

4.15-5.30 Read and studied  ‘Through the Bible in a year’ daily portion.

5.30-7 Researched ‘Like a tree planted by the water’ using study bible.

7.30-9 Studied and worked through chapter 1 of the course, ‘Battlefield of the Mind’ Joyce Meyer.

9-10 pottered about, met the house cat, read a Christian novel and wound down generally.

10pm prepared for bed.

Note: I drank 1.5 litres of spring water today, some warmed in the kettle, some cold. Later in the day I added a few drops of lemon juice to the water.

Slept to 6am.

6am up and washed. Listened to ‘The Messiah’ CD’s.

7.30-8.30 Shared in worship using worship CD’s. The house cat visited.

8.30-11 Extended Quiet time and prayers, then a short break to lie down & reflect.

11.30-33.30pm A long walk by the river to walk and talk with the Lord. Wonderful fellowship and He directed me past a lock and to a boat auctions site...Jesus and I love boats, so we looked round the site together with great interest!

3.30-4.30 ‘Battlefield of the Mind’ course.

4.30-5 Hot bath!

5-7 worked on my monthly finances and Cyprus account.

7-8 Listened to and shared in worship CD’s

8-9 Read the Bible just because I wanted to!

9-10 Odds, novel, chilled

10pm Prepared for bed.

Note: I drank about 2 litres of spring water today, some warmed in the kettle, some cold. I added a few drops of lemon juice to the water.

Slept to 7am except:

Woke up 3.30am feeling bright. So from 3.30-5am spoke in tongues quietly.

Went to bed again to 7am.

7-8am Odds then worshipped using worship CD’s quietly.

8-9.30 Recording video mini clips

9.30-11.30 Various aspects of prayer including the names of God and meanings.

11.30-4.30pm ‘Battlefield of the Mind’ course, then sat in another room.

4.30-5.30 short walk

5.30-6.30 played guitar to worship the Lord using Cyprus songs.

6.30-8pm ‘Stronghold’ course and ‘Through the Bible in a Year’.

8-9pm Sooty, the house cat visited. Read novel, chilled, cleared up and packed.

9pm met with my hosts again and shared fellowship. Drove home.

Note: I drank about 2 litres of spring water today, some warmed in the kettle, some cold. I added a few drops of lemon juice to the water. Looking back, there was a sharpness of mind, a clarity of communing with God, a depth which was unusual. Fellowshipping with Him is so exciting! In due course, I will experience God‘s answer for the person I was particularly praying about, hallelujah!

4. Workplace Christians

The following is the philosophy of Christians who have formed workplace groups around the nation. A reminder of our witness and honour of God and people at work. Have you a CWG in your workplace - if you are working? If not, think about it.

What we do in our work lives is an expression of who we are

1.  …moulds our thoughts, views and  values

2.  …shapes us

3.  …and how we “live” work is what we become

I guess that there isn’t one of us who hasn’t been touched by the recent events in Haiti. To see the desperate plight of so many people, injured, homeless, helpless and particularly the children who have been traumatised so early on in life. It is thought that nearly 5% of the population have lost their lives; the government has all but collapsed while disease, starvation and anarchy loom. Jesus was compassionate. But does compassion run in your Christian Workplace Group (CWG)?  Does your CWG have a compassionate action plan? Why not get your CWG to work with your organisation to promote and support one of the agencies collecting funds on behalf of Haiti or some such cause? If your company or organisation hasn’t such a program then maybe your CWG could approach the powers that be and initiate an appropriate course of action? Acting in a compassionate way is to show love – and love will get your group noticed.

Heal our Land (2)

Following from the last issue: The aims of the group: To see national movements of prayer united to bring breakthrough in evangelism. To develop a production of “Heal Our Land” interactive prayer concert - designed to inform and  to “move” the followers of Christ to prayer and action together. To see Evangelists and evangelistic groups united in mobilizing the local church to re-evangelise the nation.

In England, 1971, “Festival of Light” was launched.  Its purpose was to protest against the exploitation of sexual behaviour in the media and the arts and to proclaim the Christian Gospel as the positive answer to the problem. Two rallies were planned, one to represent a civic protest against moral pollution, while the other would proclaim the gospel and present the claims of Christ.  The two meetings would be linked by a march of witness. The citizen’s demonstration saw 35,000 gathered in Trafalgar Square. Thousands then marched to Hyde Park where over 100,000 knelt to pray for the nation and hear testimonies and musical presentations. This continued on with regional rallies and marches across the country.  Social action and training took place across the nation. This was followed throughout the 70’s with musical presentations by Jimmy and Carol Owens introducing new styles of worship, prayer and a call to repentance and evangelism.  The Lord moved in power and many established churches experienced renewal and new churches were planted to reach contemporary society.  Over the decades there have been other effective movements that have made a marginal impact on the British society.

Now the church, both established and new, are seeing our Christian Foundations seriously eroded.  We are experiencing the fallout of national immorality and greed.  This coupled with the rise of pluralism and humanism in all areas of society is bringing the judgment of God.  We believe it is time for the church to repent for our complacency and our sin and the sin of our nations.  We believe the Lord wants to rekindle His fire in our hearts as we unite together in intercession and evangelism.

This is a new day.  Individually there have been pockets of revival and success.  Now we believe God wants to visit the nations in power in to fulfil the famous vision He gave to Jean Darnall  of a generation aglow with God’s glory streaming like rivers of fire from the top of Scotland to Lands End, to Ireland and Europe.

He wants to again unite His people in a powerful move of love and holiness. He wants to mobilize the new work force he has called from every nation to partner with the host British church to bring in the massive global harvest of souls that are in our towns and cities. With this in mind we are calling for another “Festival of Light”.  We are asking God to “Heal Our Land”.

PURPOSE – to accelerate the good work that is already going on and to provide a means for further understanding and cooperation between Christian believers so that together we can reach this nation for Jesus.

·    Highlighting the need and call for national repentance.

·    Building a platform for a restoration of holiness and the final authority of the Word of God in our churches and national life.

·    Highlighting the role the Gospel has played in the prosperity and peace of our nation.

·    Highlighting the uniqueness of Christ in our increasingly pluralistic society.

·    Restating the content of the Gospel.

·    Welcoming the diverse new work force the Lord is bringing into the spiritual harvest fields of the UK.

·    Commissioning the church for the re evangelization of the UK.

·    Praying and worshiping together as a united people.

·    Together, taking the Gospel outside of our churches into the streets, workplaces and homes of those around us.

·    Re-establishing a culture of prayer and evangelism in our churches and personal lives.

PLAN  Today, the nation is in great trouble.  Never was there greater need for the gospel to heal our land: never was there greater opportunity!

·    Repentance and Prayer

Day 1 6  (Sun. – Fri.)   Prayer

Each venue would have 8 days of dedicated prayer. These prayer events could be combined with existing events on the UK Christian calendar.  We believe the Lord wants to build an even  greater network of intercession  praying with fresh passion for the lost.

Day 7 - “Heal Our Land”

The main interactive Prayer Concert Event, “Heal Our Land” would include a variety of music, drama, dance, media presentations, prayers, and responsive readings reflecting the diversity of age, ethnicity, style and history of the church in the UK .

Day 8 14  Evangelism

Heal Our Land” would be followed by a dedicated week of evangelism in the city we are targeting. Together we will commit ourselves to sharing the Good News of Jesus wherever He has placed us.  There will be Evangelist driven local church events, street ministry, and united efforts, etc.  The final event would be an International Evangelistic event: “Festival of Light 2” in the afternoon followed by an evening evangelistic youth concert. Depending on the dates, it could be in a park or a stadium.

Follow up:

These events would be followed up by dedicated websites monitored by local believers. The events would be reproducible and church and other ministry leaders would be encouraged to take the events into their own areas, cities, towns and villages. Tool kits” would be available including CDs  with backing tracks for “Heal Our Land” performances, DVDs for training, ideas and instructions on how to reach your area with the Gospel.

o   We will produce CDs of "Heal Our Land" for sale to resource the church nationally for replication in their areas.

o   There will be pre outreach training in evangelism and follow up with Bibles and literature available in many languages.

o   We will build a web site with church names, a blog and forum for inter active follow up. This is crucial as we reach into communities that have no access to a local church. The website will serve as a "fellowship centre" for those who will find it initially difficult to access a church body.

THE DREAM   "I had a dream....Everyone was surging toward a precipice.  They were all on a course for destruction. A voice was heard: "Repent".  The Christian believers all turned around and faced the direction the voice was coming was the voice of JESUS. He directed us to link arms.  When we did, to our surprise there were many more of us than we had realised.  We were of all ages and ethnicities.  The Lord had brought us together from every nation in the world to be a part of the prayer and evangelism force.

As we locked arms, the surge stopped and we saw men, women and children from every nation standing before us.  The Lord had brought them to the UK to find Him. (Acts 17:26 – 27). The Lord is asking us to link arms in prayer and evangelism.  Before we can do that we need to repent of our unwillingness to work together, our pride and lack of love that have caused us to be silent, watching as the world falls over the precipice. (Liz Doyle - Evangelist CCM Ministries)

Editor’s Comment: Please spent a time in prayer for this initiative, would you? I sense the vision and heart of it are from the Lord, but it needs much prayer to be fully grasped and implemented by our churches. Could churches in your area be involved?

Dear Friends,   Shalom, Best regards, Mit freundlichen Grüssen,

    Meilleures salutations‏ to you all!

This issue has an emphasis on Israel. After all, many will be considering the Messiah’s birth at this time.

1. Family News

Our daughter arranged ‘The Art of Reconciliation’ exhibition of some of her work at Horsham Library, based on sketches in relation to foot washing. She also managed to fit in a visit to Jordan and Israel, where she established contacts for the future in the field of art. She also put on a sale exhibition at our church, Kingdom Faith Church, and sold several paintings. She is now living in at our church’s bible college probably for the college year. She is working through college in the sense that she does a Saturday job at a local Italian restaurant to help her college fees. Recently, a co-worker at the restaurant gave his life to the Lord, and is going on with God…Hallelujah!  My wife and I attended her  graduation at the Barbican Centre in central London recently. She  loves to see past friends, and visits London as often as she can!

My wife: Recently went to Cyprus for a week for a major spring clean of ‘Hatikvah House’ after 7 years ownership. We shall be there together for a ministry trip and break in January. Though the year has been tough for her, Jackie is able to work two days a week as well as be a housewife! She is also a growing ministry partner, sometimes leading a meeting nowadays. She recently received a prophetic word for us both, and I look at it again and again. So relevant and encouraging, a real guide in our present circumstances. I’m proud of her! She still loves to watch birds….we go to a local sanctuary with various hides where we can watch the heron and lots of other birds. We enjoy swimming together, too.

Page 2

David: Enjoyed the peace and quiet of a retreat recently. The Lord didn’t speak dramatically, but we simply enjoyed unhurried fellowship together. I also spent three meals with the chairman of the trust of the retreat centre, an Anglican minister. We got on really well…he is in touch with what’s going on in the wider church and was really interested in listening to my thoughts. The Royal Mail strike gave me plenty to do pastorally at work and we continue to run a weekly prayer and teaching session for the workplace. Currently, we are working through an excellent prophetic course I came across whilst in Cyprus, from the USA.

I still love to sail and took the dinghy out for the last time mid-November as it was so mild! My wife and I hope to have a joint 50/60 gathering/reunion next year.

I have really valued the DVD film ‘Fireproof’, the best Christian film I have seen. Dramatic, very well acted, contemporary, powerful, uncheesy, etc. Apart from anything else, it is a reminder to all married couples or even those separated of the biblical injunction for husbands: Love your wives (as Christ loves the Church – sacrificially), and for wives: Respect your husbands (they need it to function at their best). I would highly recommend you view it, married or not.

Finally, now it is December, we all wish you a happy and blessed Christmas and New Year season. May Christ be very present to you.    (Jackie says, ‘your BEST present’.)

2. New website & Prophecies

A recent prophetic word I received is included in this teaching pamphlet as an insert. It is a word to the Church in Britain. You are asked to weigh this word, and if you believe it is of God, then to begin to pray it in, and begin to live it out. As God leads, show it to others. There has been quite an interest in the word given. I remember being roused by the Lord in the night for three and a half hours, during which time He shared a number of issues with me for personal guidance, or to be followed up. Then suddenly the ‘word’ came….I could hardly write it down quickly enough! Having read and re-read it, I decided to take a retreat (advance) for a few days to seek the Lord more fully. As a result, I feel more quickened to taking up the ministry of visiting churches and leaders afresh. We will see how the Lord leads.

Jackie also received a significant prophecy for us as a couple and for our future, as mentioned previously. I believe it is the most important she has received, and we are working on the implications daily. Praise God!

The word to the Church now appears both as an article/letter in the current ‘Heart of West Sussex’ newspaper, and as the original prophecy on my website. There is also lots of other material – prophecies over the years which are still contemporary, ‘End Times’ and other videos such as one relating to Israel, biblical films for family viewing, one about the way the mind works – amazing, and very biblical! Also, informative and factual material, etc. There are songs and poems, reports and other useful teaching materials. You are invited to look at the hatikvah website: and to note down the domain name...even make it a ‘favourite’!  I would be glad of your comments on the site, bearing in mind it is early days, and I don’t have that much time available to develop the site at present.

3. Joseph, the Jews and Israel.

Joseph was the beloved son of his father. He was sent by his father to his brothers but they did not receive him. As a result of their betrayal and rejection, he went to the gentile world and became the bread of life to them. When Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt to receive seed for bread, they did not recognize the ruler of Egypt as their brother, (Genesis 42v6-8).  It was only at their next visit to him, after a false start, that they were able to recognize him, because he revealed himself to them in such a way as to convince them that he was both the ruler and their brother (Genesis 45v1-8). Stephen refers to this in Acts 7v9-14:

9 "Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him 10 and rescued him from all his troubles. He gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt; so he made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace. 11 "Then a famine struck all Egypt and Canaan, bringing great suffering, and our fathers could not find food. 12 When Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our fathers on their first visit. 13 On their second visit, Joseph told his brothers who he was, and Pharaoh learned about Joseph's family. 14 After this, Joseph sent for his father Jacob and his whole family, seventy-five in all.

Does this ring bells in relation to Jesus? For 2000 years He has been the bread of life to the gentile world, but his own people have not received him for the most part. Yet they will, as he comes again to them and reveals Himself as Messiah and their brother. They shall mourn for the one they pierced. (Zech 12v10).

Joseph also married a non-Jewish bride, and Jesus has related to the Gentile Church for 2000 years, grafted in to Christ. But he will be coming again for his whole family, including the Jews, who are the natural branches, that His bride may be complete. Even now we see God at work in Israel and around the earth bringing Jews ever more swiftly to Himself. Joseph said to his brothers, Come close to me.’ (Genesis 45v4), and he forgave them. Such is the message of Jesus to his brothers, the Jewish people, being fulfilled in our day!

In 1917, General Allenby invited Jews from Europe to return to Israel, having prepared the land through his victory. If they had heeded the invitation from God through this man, there would never have been a European holocaust! Yet, 50 years later (God’s Jubilee year) Jerusalem, under the feet of the Gentiles for nearly 2000 years, become Jewish in the 6 day war of 1967.

Luke 21v24: They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

The 6 day war began on the 6th day of the 6th month of 1967.  Three sixes: 666……the times of the End are at hand. God’s prophetic clock for the Jews is moving. Last year was the 60th anniversary year of Israel’s re-emergence as a nation. Despite many attempts to exterminate her, Israel remains firmly on the map…a stumbling block to many nations. God promises to bless those who bless Israel, and curse those who curse her (Genesis 12v2-3).

Page 4

In the nations, Iran prepares to go nuclear, America withdraws support for Israel, and much of the worldwide Church is negative towards Israel, seeing her as the problem in the Middle East. Other groups in the Church are waking up to the principle of blessing Israel, understanding God’s purpose for Israel in the coming days. Many are beginning to pray for, bless materially and serve the Jews. Messianic fellowships in Israel are growing and reaching out to Jew and Arab alike, supported by churches and believers in many nations. Churches that choose to bless the Jew first, in teaching, the greater part of their mission giving, praying and in reaching out to the Jews or supporting such outreach for salvation, are being greatly blessed…... is own people have still not, for the main, recognized him….yet they will

Romans 1v16:         For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of

God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

4. About the Jews – by a Jew

(The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.)

My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish.  And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees,Christmas trees.  I don't feel threatened.  I don't feel discriminated against…….

That's what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me.  I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto.  In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year.

It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu ..  If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians.  I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period..  I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country..  I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him?

I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too.

But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to. In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different:  This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina ).. Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, 'I believe Page 5

God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.  And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out.  How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'

In light of recent events... Terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.  I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school.  The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself.  And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide).  We said an expert should know what he's talking about.  And we said okay.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out.  I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell.  Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.  Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.  Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.
Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.
Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.
Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not, then just discard it..... No one will know you did.  But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

5. Israel & President Obama

The question is whether President Obama, given his Muslim roots and experience in Farrakhan's Chicago, shares an antipathy for Israel and Jewish people. Is there any evidence that he does? First, the President was taught for twenty years by a virulent anti-Semite, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. In the black community it is called "sitting under". You don't merely attend a church, you "sit under" a Pastor to be taught and mentored by him. Obama "sat under" Wright for a very long time.

Page 6

He was comfortable enough with Farrakhan - Wright's friend - to attend and help organize his "Million Man March". On the morning of the march arguing that we must never legitimize a racist and anti-Semite, no matter what "good" he claims to be doing, a future President was in the crowd giving Farrakhan his enthusiastic support.

The classic left wing view is that Israel is the oppressive occupier, and the Palestinians are Israel's victims. Obama is clearly sympathetic to this view. In speaking to the "Muslim World," he did not address the widespread Islamic hatred of Jews. Instead he attacked Israel over the growth of West Bank settlements. Surely he knows that settlements are not the crux of the problem.

The absolute refusal of the Palestinians to accept Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state is the insurmountable obstacle. That's where the pressure needs to be paced, but this President sees it differently. He also made the preposterous comparison of the Holocaust to Palestinian "dislocation".

Obama clearly has Muslim sensibilities. He sees the world and Israel from a Muslim perspective. His construct of "The Muslim World" is unique in modern diplomacy. It is said that only The Muslim Brotherhood and other radical elements of the religion use that concept. It is a call to unify Muslims around the world. It is rather odd to hear an American President use it. In doing so he reveals more about his thinking than he intends. The dramatic policy reversal of joining the unrelentingly anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and pro-Islamic UN Human Rights Council is in keeping with the President's truest - albeit undeclared - sensibilities.

Those who are paying attention and thinking about these issues do not find it unreasonable to consider that President Obama is influenced by a strain of anti-Semitism picked up from the black community, his leftist friends and colleagues, his Muslim associations and his long period of mentorship under Jeremiah Wright.

If this conclusion is accurate, Israel has some dark days ahead. For the first time in her history, she may find the President of the United States siding with her enemies. Those who believe, as I do, that Israel must be protected had better be ready for the fight. We are.

The video detailed below, revealing President Obama’s possible Muslim commitment will quite possibly devastate you! (However, the compilation video is heavily edited to present this view.) Go to You Tube on the internet and type into the You Tube search box: (use exact wording & spelling)

6. Standing for Israel at the United Nations

This speech was made at the UN recently. The video is on our website. What a change to have someone speak up FOR Israel, and with media coverage.

Thank you, Mr. President.

I am the former commander of the British forces in Afghanistan. I served with NATO and the United Nations; commanded troops in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Macedonia; and participated in the Gulf War. I spent considerable time in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, and worked on international terrorism for the UK Government's Joint Intelligence Committee.

Mr. President, based on my knowledge and experience, I can say this: During Operation Cast Lead, the Israeli Defense Forces did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare.

Israel did so while facing an enemy that deliberately positioned its military capability behind the human shield of the civilian population.

Hamas, like Hizballah, are expert at driving the media agenda. Both will always have people ready to give interviews condemning Israeli forces for war crimes. They are adept at staging and distorting incidents.

The IDF faces a challenge that we British do not have to face to the same extent. It is the automatic, Pavlovian presumption by many in the international media, and international human rights groups, that the IDF are in the wrong, that they are abusing human rights.

The truth is that the IDF took extraordinary measures to give Gaza civilians notice of targeted areas, dropping over 2 million leaflets, and making over 100,000 phone calls. Many missions that could have taken out Hamas military capability were aborted to prevent civilian casualties.

During the conflict, the IDF allowed huge amounts of humanitarian aid into Gaza. To deliver aid virtually into your enemy's hands is, to the military tactician, normally quite unthinkable. But the IDF took on those risks.

Despite all of this, of course innocent civilians were killed. War is chaos and full of mistakes. There have been mistakes by the British, American and other forces in Afghanistan and in Iraq, many of which can be put down to human error. But mistakes are not war crimes.

More than anything, the civilian casualties were a consequence of Hamas' way of fighting. Hamas deliberately tried to sacrifice their own civilians.

Mr. President, Israel had no choice apart from defending its people, to stop Hamas from attacking them with rockets.  And I say this again: the IDF did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare.     Thank you.

7. The Shedding of Innocent Blood

Our local MP visited our home recently in order that I could talk through life issues with him....abortion, euthanasia, embryonic experimentation and the stem cells issue: adult v embryo stem cells, etc. I prepared a paper on this, and we worked through it, using key bible texts also. Here it is below in note form.

God is the Creator of life......Unchanging principles.

God & His Son sovereign:  Psalm 2.

1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed One. 3 "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. 5 Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, 6 "I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill."

7 I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father. 8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You will rule them with an iron sceptre; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

The abortion industry very lucrative. Socially accepted...convenient. Very powerful & influential lobby.  But what does God say?

Isaiah 5 v7   Their feet rush into sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are evil thoughts; ruin and destruction mark their ways.

2 Kings 21v6; v16)    6 He (Manasseh, King of Judah/Jerusalem) sacrificed his own son in the fire, practised sorcery and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord, provoking him to anger.

16 ...Manasseh also shed so much innocent blood that he filled Jerusalem from end to end—besides the sin that he had caused Judah to commit, so that they did evil in the eyes of the Lord.

Psalm 106v37-42  37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons. 38 They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood. 39 They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves.40Therefore the Lord was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance. 41 He handed them over to the nations, and their foes ruled over them. 42 Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power.

Jeremiah 22v3   3 This is what the Lord says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.

Page 9

The results of the shedding of innocent blood:  2 Kings 24v1-4 esp v4

1 During Jehoiakim's reign, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded the land, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. But then he changed his mind and rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar. 2 The Lord sent Babylonian, Aramean, Moabite and Ammonite raiders against him. He sent them to destroy Judah, in accordance with the word of the Lord proclaimed by his servants the prophets. 3 Surely these things happened to Judah according to the Lord's command, in order to remove them from his presence because of the sins of Manasseh and all he had done, 4 including the shedding of innocent blood. For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to forgive.

Euthanasia issue. Also Embryos v adult stem cell research: preliminary investigations suggest adult stem cells just as effective, with no death to the unborn!

God’s view of the unborn child: Psalm 139v13-16; v23-24

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

God’s requirements for those in positions of responsibility & influence:

Proverbs 24v11-12 11 Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering towards slaughter. 12 If you say, "But we knew nothing about this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?

Deut 30v11; v19

11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. 19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Woe to the Complacent: Amos 6v1; v6-7

1 Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come!. 6 You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph. 7 Therefore you will be among the first to go into exile; your feasting and lounging will end.

It was a stimulating time...well prepared for in prayer, and I believe the seeds of the word sown and watered in prayer will bear fruit in due season. Pray for your own MP. Maybe the time will come for you to meet with them in some way to share what the Lord gives you?

Page 10

8.   4-3-2-1

The 4 ‘W’s of coming to God in prayer. Why not try this as your quiet time for a change?

Worship….’Enter His gates with thanksgiving and praise.’

Word….’Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.’

Waiting on the Lord…. ‘Be still and know that I am God.’

Warrior in prayer…. ‘Praying in the Spirit on all occasions.’

(Spirit-led prayers, whether in English or tongues or both, will always be powerful.)

The 3 ‘M’s …laying on the altar.     Learn to let go and let God in these key areas.

Money….who has control, you or God?

Ministry…Is ministry more important to you than the One on whose behalf you minister?

Marriage….If you are married, are you truly sacrificial towards your spouse?

The 2 ‘R’s:  Two Reasons to obey God:

Reason 1: If we love Him, we will obey Him (John 15), and our obedience means we can be trusted with more from God. God promises to BLESS those obedient to Him in all sorts of ways, and that blessing can powerfully permeate through every aspect of our lives. There is just a wonderful grace – strengthening and enabling - on your life, with zest, peace, fulfilment and lots of opportunity! Why settle for less?

Reason 2: Obedience is for our own safety. God sees all things, including the things ahead of us….though we are in a sense, ‘blind’ to what is coming. He knows what we need to do to avoid the dangers and fulfil His purposes. Not to obey Him is actually unsafe for us. As someone put it: “If you try to direct a blind man through a minefield, and he is too proud to heed you, or afraid to take your direction, or feels ‘too tired’, then ….BANG!”

Let us maintain a pure heart - His will for us, and let’s be of those whose, ‘steps are guided by the Lord’.

“The only way to maintain His holy fire in our hearts is through the practice of obedience. Failure to faithfully fulfil His word will quench the Spirit’s fire in our life. If we lose His fire, we will return back to ‘Egypt’ and become slaves once again.”      (Quote from Pastor Eric Benson, Haifa.)

The 1 G

God IS the one, true, living GOD! Your friend and counselor is also God the Creator of your life – of all life – of everything! God IS. He is worthy of being worshipped, listened to, made sacrifices for, obeyed and loved. He is GREAT! All glory to Him! Amen and Amen!

Page 11

9. The Emergent Church

An organisation called ‘Faith at Work’, an experiential-based group movement is championing thinking in this emerging view. The group recently changed its name to Lumunos...possibly a word play on Lucifer! A 19th Century forerunner of the group was The Theosophical Society, an occultic, religious and philosophical system claiming insight into the divine nature yet denying the existence of a personal God. The New Age movement pursues the same agenda these days.

It appears that the Emergent Church and the New Age movement are also in the process of converging. This could lead to the formation of a ‘Church’ which is experience based (apparent direct experiences of the divine). This could be no less than communication with spirits!  Such a group would abandon the word of God for the experience-centred approach.

The word ‘emerge’ can mean, ‘to rise out of anything’, to come into view out of concealment’, etc. Leaders of the movement open the way to a universalist salvation for all humanity which is unbiblical. I am told that some of these views are beginning to make inroads into evangelical churches and ministries. Perhaps this is also the reason Jude wrote the following: Jude 1:3-4 (ANIV)

3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. 4 For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a licence for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

Jesus’ own words are sobering: Matt 13:24-28 (ANIV)

24 Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed ears, then the weeds also appeared. 27 "The owner's servants came to him and said, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?' 28 " 'An enemy did this,' he replied.

Consider this: Cancer begins with one unidentified, unchecked cell, which if not dealt with, can destroy the whole body. Consider Paul’s words:  2 Tim 4:2-4 (ANIV)

2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

We need to nurture in our children - and indeed in those coming into our churches - the need of a personal relationship with God, and a life changing encounter with Him, rather than something inherited. Let’s give our children, ‘the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth’.

Page 12

Author’s note: Pray that unbiblical teachings be ably exposed, those caught up to be rescued and restored to the truth, and for church leaders to be humble enough to admit their mistakes.

10. The Book of Isaiah

This is an amazing book. I love to read for pleasure from Isaiah, especially ‘Second Isaiah’, after his messages began to turn to restoration following judgment. It is a mini-bible, with the 39 books of OT type found in the first 39 chapters, and then the 27 books of NT type found in the remaining 27 chapters! The second section speaks of salvation, restoration, the new heavens & earth, etc. The wording is full of drama, beauty poetry, prophecy….why not settle down for a good read? For example, meditate on Isaiah chapter 14 especially v1-2:

1 The Lord will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Aliens will join them and unite with the house of Jacob. 2 Nations will take them and bring them to their own place. And the house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maidservants in the Lord's land. They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.

 11. Heal our Land                        ( )

"Our nation is in trouble; deep trouble; far more than most people realise, or our Government wishes to acknowledge. "Britain has the highest rate of family breakdown and the highest rate of teenage pregnancy in Europe and a reputation for drunkenness, offensive language, obscenity, and violent behaviour both at home and abroad.  Our banking and financial institutions which for hundreds of years were recognised throughout the world for integrity, honesty and reliability are now seen to be corrupt, greedy and unreliable.

God has watched over Britain for many centuries, bringing us through times of danger and times of economic hardship to the prosperity of the second half of the 20th century.  But we are part of a generation that has squandered our prosperity by our greed and selfishness; destroyed family life that gave security and love to our children; lost our social cohesion and corrupted our national moral standards.   We have dishonoured our Christian heritage through our lack of concern for the poor of the world, our personal pursuit of material wealth and our reckless disregard of the natural environment of which before God we are stewards."

Dr. Clifford Hill

The SOLUTION.... We are asking the Lord Jesus Christ to...Heal Our Land

We believe a part of this process is to bring Christians together to repent of our sins and to pray for ourselves and our nation.  Christians need to "find their voice again" and take the message of salvation "to the streets".

Page 13

"Heal Our Land" is an interactive prayer and mobilisation event by Jimmy and Carol Owens adapted for the challenges of today’s British church, and rolling out next year. The Owen’s musicals “Come Together” and “If My People” played a significant role   in past  renewal move- ments. We believe that again, this new production, adapted by major British - based songwriters and artists from many styles and ethnicities, can be instrumental toward creating an atmosphere of repentance,  a culture of prayer, and a fresh passion for Jesus, and for the lost.

We believe “Heal Our Land” can be a catalyst for furthering Christian co-operation and multi-cultural understanding through united national prayer, developing a major reproducible, multi-cultural production and mounting strategic evangelistic efforts throughout the UK.
