CURRENT  EVENTS  -  SYRIA, IRAQ  and the  ISLAMIC CRESCENT

 THE SHAKING OF THE NATIONS

^Overview of world events: God is 'shaking the nations'…see the Bible, the book of Haggai chapter 2v6-7; and Hebrews chapter 2v26. All events will be used in His purposes, under His control.

There is an Islamic invasion amongst the nations, especially through the migrant crisis in Europe, and until recently, there was a Muslim president in the White House. The USA originally backed its currency with gold, then went to oil, now has nothing to back it with. It is printing paper money only. A financial crash is looming.

Middle East:  The events in the Middle East will build up to fulfil biblical scenarios.  (Study these bible passages for further information: Psalm 83, or Jeremiah 49:23-27, which might lead to Isaiah 17:1? Or is this an Ezekiel 38-39 foreshadow? It might be all, or none, of the above. Then there is the final scenario of Revelation 16, Armageddon, whenever that will be). Pray for clarity, insight and understanding of the times we are in, and the part the Church will play in this. Whatever the world, the devil and humanity is doing, despite it and through it, God is bringing His plans into fruition (see Psalm 33v10-11). Ultimately, He rules all creation - in heaven, the heavenly realms, and on the earth (see psalm 2).

THE 'ISLAMIC CRESCENT'

Consider the current situations in Syria and Iraq, with Russia growing in influence. Consider the Libyan migrant situation and international involvements with these. Consider  the shaking of the nations of the Middle East....Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain, Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Algeria and Morocco. Consider the 'Arab Spring' turning into an 'Islamic Winter' as newly elected governments begin to enforce Islamic law in their nations or turn against migrants. Then look back at both recent events in your memory, and further back to the crippling power plant explosion in Cyprus (see this website's 'Cyprus' page), the  Australian & other floods, Israel's sweeping forest fire and now the new 'fire terrorism', drastic snowfalls in Britain, the Chilean mining disaster, Pakistan floods, Haiti earthquake, oil spill in Gulf of Mexico, Dust cloud over Britain, Finance crisis in many nations……with threat of bankruptcy in some European nations and even in America. What is going on, and WHY? Even in 'stable' Britain we have experienced riots on the streets of London and other cities and the challenges of 'Brexit'.

THE BIBLE: The book of Haggai chapter 2 verses 6-9:    "This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. 7 I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,' says the Lord Almighty. 8 'The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the Lord Almighty. 9 'The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,' says the Lord Almighty. 'And in this place I will grant peace,' declares the Lord Almighty."

THE BIBLE: Hebrews 12:26-29:  At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens." 27 The words "once more" indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our "God is a consuming fire."

Ahead is a worldwide financial crisis, political instability, great conflict between nations, continuing natural disasters, food shortages, catastrophe!

What is coming upon the world? The Middle East is in turmoil, with the Western alliances drawn into the conflict. Japan is still affected by the tsunami and the nuclear problem. The floods in Australia shook the nation, and caused many to realise how frail man is, and how dependent upon God's faithful provision in so many aspects of living.

Yet, the weight of sin in our world, from God's point of view, is even affecting the earth! Read The Bible: Isaiah chapter 24 - the whole of it ! Here is an extract:

verse 20 The earth reels like a drunkard, it sways like a hut in the wind; so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion that it falls—never to rise again.

Also: Jeremiah 10v10. 'But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath.

I think it is evident to many that the shaking of the nations is increasing considerably. This shaking is preparing many for the kingdom for God by removing the things in which they have put their security, whether financial, employment, family, or the natural order. This is therefore an opportunity for the Church to arise and prepare.  Isaiah 60:1-3  "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.

The Church in SYRIA:  Evangelical, Orthodox and Catholic Christians and churches are uniting in prayer and fasting as never before during this crisis. 7000 churches around the world are committed to prayer for Syrian Christians and the crisis. 24 hour 7 days a week prayer in homes is developing for this ‘watchtower’ people who now understand the power and value of prayer. Days of prayer are regular events.

EGYPT:  Concerning this ‘shaking’, current events in Egypt are paralleled in Isaiah 19 (see below) and coming to life before our eyes! Let’s pray for God to raise up a ‘saviour’ at this time for Egypt, spoken of in Isaiah 19, and not just a political leader, but also that Jesus Himself be recognised as their true Saviour. Let’s pray for revival in Egypt – an ‘altar to the Lord’ to be established. Already in the outskirts of Cairo there is a great move of God.

God’s Roadmap for the Middle East is a highway from Egypt to Assyria, with Israel involved centrally. This will be a ‘blessing on the earth’. Also, 'Assyria' would include many of the nations currently being shaken in the Middle East. Isaiah chapter 11 reveals the current return of the Jews to Israel (the ‘Aliyah’) in the context of this highway.

Isaiah 19:1-4.  An oracle concerning Egypt:

See, the Lord rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before him, and the hearts of the Egyptians melt within them. 2 "I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian— brother will fight against brother, neighbour against neighbour, city against city, kingdom against kingdom. 3 The Egyptians will lose heart, and I will bring their plans to nothing; they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead, the mediums and the spiritists. 4 I will hand the Egyptians over to the power of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them," declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.

Isaiah 19:19-25

19 In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the heart of Egypt, and a monument to the Lord at its border. 20 It will be a sign and witness to the Lord Almighty in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the Lord because of their oppressors, he will send them a saviour and defender, and he will rescue them. 21 So the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the Lord. They will worship with sacrifices and grain offerings; they will make vows to the Lord and keep them. 22 The Lord will strike Egypt with a plague; he will strike them and heal them. They will turn to the Lord, and he will respond to their pleas and heal them. 23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. 24 In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. 25 The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, "Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance."

NOTE: 'Assyria' would include many of the Islamic Crescent nations. God is shaking the systems in these nations, giving people in these nations an opportunity to be able to seek and find Him through Christ, with less religious oppression at this present time. Radio and TV broadcasts are challenging many in these nations as to who Jesus Christ is, and what He means to mankind.

Isaiah 11:10-12

10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious. 11 In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the sea. 12 He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth.

Some good news:    The ‘Egyptian Food Bank’:

This group has recently modelled its organisation to the Nicosia Rotary Club in Cyprus, with the hope that Cyprus joins the Regional Food Network scheme which has now spread to several Middle Eastern nations. No 1 priority is to feed the needy who are unable to work, then to help the needy who can work, and then the elderly, diseased, single mothers, handicapped, orphans, etc. Many NGO’s are involved and many volunteers as well. Currently, over 150,000 needy families are being fed. Businessmen and multi-national companies are involved. A manual is available, and the scheme has been  approved by the UN. A further stage is to develop small villages in need. Amen to all this and may the scheme spread in Cyprus and elsewhere.

Israel's fires

Fire on Mount Carmel is a feature of the Old Testament scripture. Elijah called down God’s fire to demonstrate God’s authority over demonic and idolatrous ‘gods’ (1 Kings 18). The fire on Mount Carmel which destroyed so much forest there, may have had God’s hand in it. The never-ceasing east wind, the November drought, the string of mistakes made by fire services and others, and the fascinating and selective path the fire took, destroying certain locations connected with the occult and idolatry, give a clue as to divine involvement!

However, the more recent 'fire terrorism' is a new strategy of fundamentalist Islam against Israel....God's ancient covenant people in the Middle East. This was demonically inspired. Satan most often deludes and uses people to fulfil his purposes.
